Role Summary

The Assistant Principal supports the elementary school principal in managing various school operations including student discipline, attendance, curriculum planning and implementation, staff hiring and evaluation, building safety, and school improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing and upholding student discipline and attendance policies.
  • Planning and administering curriculum aligned with district and state standards.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents and the community to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Handling human resources functions such as hiring, supervising, evaluating, and supporting staff dismissal when necessary.
  • Overseeing school safety and security and responding promptly to related issues.
  • Participating in program planning for diverse student groups including gifted, ELL, special education, and at-risk populations.
  • Contributing to the formulation and execution of the school improvement and staff development plans.
  • Collecting and implementing student data to support instructional planning.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and fulfilling additional duties assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree along with further coursework required for a Colorado Principal License.
  • At least three years’ experience as a teacher or special services provider, preferably at the secondary education level.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication capabilities.
  • Proven decision-making, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experienced in supporting students and staff with diverse needs across different levels.
  • Proficiency in developing, monitoring, and evaluating curricula, discipline protocols, and safety supervision plans.
  • Required to obtain Classified and Certified Employee Evaluation Training Certificates within one month of employment.

Salary and Work Details

The salary is classified under AP1 with a range starting at $88,359, midpoint at $113,280, and maximum of $138,202. New hires' salary placement typically does not surpass the midpoint and is commensurate with experience. The position is full-time (1.0 FTE), 40 hours per week over a 10-month work year.
