Role Overview

Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers is seeking an Assistant Marine Superintendent to join its Shipping Team in Singapore. The role sits within a family-owned group with a long track record and a forward-looking focus on alternative fuels and advanced marine technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support safe vessel operations and help ensure full adherence to international marine rules and standards.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the Safety Management System, including routine vessel inspections for compliance with ISM and ISPS requirements.
  • Identify operational risks and help ensure alignment with the company’s risk management approach.
  • Carry out pre-vetting inspections onboard vessels and follow up on findings.
  • Advise the vessel Master on nautical matters and lead incident investigations when required.
  • Encourage a continuous improvement mindset aligned with business goals.
  • Apply practical knowledge of ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, and Maritime Labour Convention requirements in marine operations.
  • Support the assigned vessels in ADPA/ACSO duties as needed.
  • Help implement and enhance the Integrated Management System.
  • Plan and carry out internal audits both in the office and onboard ships.
  • Review reports to trace and address non-conformance sources.
  • Track the effectiveness of verification and inspection work across Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality functions.
  • Coordinate vetting activities with oil majors, commercial operators, owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee compliance tasks related to risk management, monthly safety meetings, near-miss reporting, and Master reviews.
  • Monitor the Planned Maintenance System, as well as repair and maintenance activities.
  • Review operational performance and prepare bi-yearly follow-up review reports.
  • Brief crew members on company policies, documentation standards, and operating procedures.
  • Support contingency management activities in office and onboard settings, including training and drills.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for officers and engineers.

Requirements

  • Between 3 and 5 years of seagoing experience.
  • Either a Class 2 or Class 3 Certificate of Competency, or at least 2 years of shore-based experience as a Marine/Assistant Marine Superintendent for a product or chemical tanker.
  • Internal auditor training in ISM and ISPS.
  • Practical capability in root-cause analysis and investigation work.
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment and risk management practices.
  • Exposure to crisis management and media handling.
  • Good understanding of international maritime regulations and operational requirements.
  • Strong integrity, professionalism, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of ISM, PMS, repair management, and dry-docking repairs.
  • Experience with dry docking, new shipbuilding, and vessel delivery will be an advantage.
