Job description
Role overview
This position is focused on procurement and vendor management for electrical and C&I materials, with an additional interface for mechanical items where commercial negotiation and order processing are required. The role supports cost optimization, timely sourcing, documentation, compliance, and coordination with internal teams and suppliers to keep plant operations running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Expand and maintain the supplier base for electrical and C&I categories.
- Identify items suitable for annual rate contracts in electrical and C&I procurement.
- Support local substitution and import replacement of spares through reverse engineering or sourcing equivalent non-Chinese alternatives.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver business objectives.
- Drive cost efficiency for mechanical purchases through manual negotiation and e-auction processes such as reverse and forward auctions.
- Raise enquiries, coordinate vendor follow-ups, receive quotations, and prepare price comparison statements.
- Prepare approval documents including NFAs, change order proposals, and related procurement paperwork.
- Issue purchase orders within planned timelines for mechanical items.
- Track and ensure on-time delivery of electrical and C&I materials.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers to support uninterrupted plant operations.
- Ensure adherence to applicable management system requirements, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, EnMS, and 5S practices.
- Support digitization and orderly management of procurement documents.
- Handle and close commercial concerns or disputes as they arise.
- Assist in negotiations and secure the best possible pricing for electrical and C&I purchases.
- Prepare management information reports and other MIS outputs.
- Participate in technical and behavioural learning initiatives for continuous development.
- Follow CHETNA safety guidelines and implement Contract Health & Safety Management requirements during order placement.
Qualifications
The role requires a BE/B.Tech degree in Electrical or C&I.
Experience
Applicants should have at least 5 years of relevant experience.
