Role Overview
This role leads the hotel’s communications function, with primary responsibility for shaping and coordinating all messaging activities and a strong focus on public relations. The position is designed to strengthen the hotel’s premium reputation while supporting revenue growth through effective and consistent communication.
Key Responsibilities
The role covers planning, supervising, and refining marketing communications, public relations, advertising, direct marketing, and collateral production. It also involves working closely with leadership, agency partners, and corporate teams to keep brand messaging aligned and impactful.
Marketing Communications
- Build annual communication plans with clear objectives and budgets tied to the hotel’s marketing strategy and communications guidelines.
- Prepare action plans, brief the communications team on priorities, and monitor progress against targets.
- Review results regularly and implement corrective steps when performance falls short of expectations.
- Support the Director of Marketing in organizing mailing activities and oversee their delivery.
- Keep the corporate identity manual current and ensure it is applied correctly.
- Prepare the monthly sales and marketing communications report on time.
- Coordinate photography for advertising, collateral, and PR work with the Director of Marketing, agency partners, and corporate field marketing.
- Maintain a full master library of slides, photos, and CDs for marketing and public relations use, and share materials with corporate office for the main image archive.
- Oversee the in-house art department’s day-to-day operations.
- Track competitor activity and wider industry trends.
Public Relations
- Serve as the hotel spokesperson when required and respond to media inquiries within 24 hours.
- Build and maintain a detailed media contact database and manage it through the media account system.
- Delegate selected accounts to communications team members while retaining ownership of key media relationships.
- Draft press releases for targeted local, regional, and international outlets.
- Work with corporate and international press teams to develop story ideas and angles.
- Contribute to community relations, government relations, and VIP coordination.
- Identify and create opportunities for hotel-sponsored events and develop strategic partner relationships.
- Plan and deliver press promotional activities.
- Take part in press events and familiarization trips arranged by regional PR teams when needed.
- Organize press blitzes when suitable.
- Keep press kit content complete and regularly updated.
Advertising and Direct Marketing
- Work with the Director of Marketing and the advertising agency on tactical campaigns for rooms and food and beverage, including creative direction and media planning.
- Use the advertising budget efficiently by keeping hotel messaging aligned with sister properties and corporate campaigns.
- Ensure creative assets reflect the company’s standards and deliver a consistent, high-quality message.
- Review market segmentation and marketing reports so media placement matches target audiences.
- Track media schedules and ensure accounts are settled promptly.
- Take an integrated approach to direct marketing so the brand image remains consistent and polished.
- Support the planning, execution, and tracking of digital marketing activities.
- Maintain control over budgets for direct marketing work.
Collateral and Production
- Coordinate the production of printed materials with agency support while following corporate identity standards.
- Keep hotel information accurate and current across internet and intranet platforms.
- Oversee the design and quality of displays and temporary signage in public areas.
- Manage budgets for gift items and ensure proper logo usage on all branded merchandise.
- Supervise the in-house graphic designer and/or print shop.

Experience and Education
Applicants should meet one of the following paths: a high school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or a related professional area; or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field with 2 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
