Assistant Accountant

About the Role

A well-established public-sector organization located in North Dublin is seeking an Accounting Technician / Assistant Accountant for a full-time, temporary 8-week contract. This position is entirely on-site and is ideal for an individual with robust, hands-on accounting experience who can immediately contribute within a structured setting. The role involves supporting the finance team with daily accounting tasks and financial administration.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
• Manage supplier invoices and coordinate approvals.
• Prepare payment runs.
• Assist with bank and supplier statement reconciliations.
• Support statutory and financial reporting as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure deadlines are met by collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role, preferably in a fast-paced or structured environment.
• Strong background in accounts payable processes, reconciliations, and payment runs.
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage (or similar).
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
• An Accounting Technician qualification or equivalent practical experience is beneficial but not mandatory if strong hands-on experience is demonstrated.
