Role overview
This position leads regional sales development for General MRO across North India. The focus is on growing revenue, widening market reach, deepening customer engagement, and building a strong distribution ecosystem for industrial consumables such as adhesives, sealants, tapes, maintenance chemicals, and related solutions.
The role combines market expansion, distributor management, strategic account handling, and team leadership to deliver steady, profitable business growth and stronger brand presence in the region.
Core responsibilities
Revenue growth and market expansion: Build topline and profitable growth for the General MRO portfolio in the assigned North India territory. Spot new business opportunities across industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, and related sectors. Improve product penetration through structured market development efforts, while keeping a close watch on market shifts, competitor moves, and customer requirements to guide regional strategy.
Distribution and channel development: Create, expand, and manage a scalable network of distributors and channel partners across North India. Onboard new distributors, dealers, and sub-dealers to increase reach. Define performance expectations, monitor productivity, and strengthen adherence to pricing, credit, and channel governance policies.
Key account management: Identify and develop strategic accounts within the GMRO segment. Build trusted relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and technical stakeholders. Drive large deal conversions through consultative selling and value-led propositions, and negotiate commercial terms that support long-term account sustainability.
Team leadership and capability building: Guide, coach, and develop the regional sales team to deliver strong performance. Set clear targets, review progress regularly, and ensure accountability. Strengthen product knowledge, application understanding, and solution-selling skills, while promoting a customer-first, high-performance culture.
Execution and cross-functional coordination: Ensure smooth implementation of national and regional sales initiatives. Work closely with marketing, technical services, supply chain, and finance teams to deliver a seamless customer experience. Track forecasts, demand planning, and inventory health, and ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and ethical standards.
Performance measures
Success in this role will be assessed through revenue and profitability outcomes for the GMRO portfolio, channel growth and distributor productivity, acquisition and retention of key accounts, market share improvement in focus segments, and stronger team capability and output.
Candidate profile
Education: An MBA or PGDM in Marketing or Sales is preferred. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Science is an added advantage.
Experience: The role calls for 8 to 12 years of sales and business development experience in B2B or industrial products. Experience in General MRO, industrial consumables, adhesives, chemicals, or similar industries is important. A strong history in channel sales, distribution management, and key account development is required, and prior exposure to the North India market is highly desirable.
Required competencies
The ideal candidate should bring strategic and analytical selling ability, strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, proven team leadership experience, and the capability to scale business across markets. A customer-focused, solution-driven approach, along with effective communication and stakeholder management, is essential.
