Annual Surveyor

Role overview

Wormald is looking for an experienced Annual Surveyor to join its Hamilton team. The position suits someone already working in fire protection who values careful workmanship, compliance, and strong customer service.

The main purpose of the role is to test, survey, and inspect fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) obligations in line with current New Zealand Standards.

What the role involves

• Performing annual surveys and checks on fire alarm systems and emergency lighting
• Carrying out BWOF inspections in line with New Zealand compliance requirements
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with existing customers
• Liaising clearly with supervisors to keep work progressing efficiently
• Keeping fire panels and work areas tidy, safe, and professionally presented
• Using tools, equipment, and company property safely and responsibly
• Recording time accurately and completing the required documentation
• Following all EH&S and site safety rules and reporting any hazards noticed on site

What we are looking for

• Prior experience in the fire protection industry is preferred
• Good understanding of New Zealand fire and building compliance standards
• IQP registration, or progress toward IQP status, is an advantage
• Ability to interpret drawings and plans
• Dependable, self-driven, and able to work without close supervision
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional conduct
