Job description
Overview
We are hiring an Anaesthetic Practitioner for a permanent full-time post at a busy, energetic healthcare organisation in Bristol. The role is offered at 37.5 hours per week, arranged across 4 days, with shifts running from Monday to Saturday between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. The position focuses on delivering consistently high standards of patient care within theatre and anaesthetic services.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out anaesthetic techniques and procedures competently and safely.
- Work as an effective member of the theatre team, contributing to care assessment in the operating theatre and other areas where anaesthetic support is needed.
- Monitor patients closely and escalate to medical staff whenever their condition requires attention.
- Manage allocated anaesthetic resources in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
- Share accurately recorded information with the theatre and anaesthetic multidisciplinary team to support patient safety and care updates.
- Support and oversee junior or unqualified colleagues, offering specialist guidance when assessing patients and interpreting acute conditions.
What We’re Looking For
- A Part 1 registered NMC nurse or an Operating Department Practitioner with orthopaedic experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and documentation.
- Confidence building good working relationships with patients and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Good IT and computer skills, with willingness to develop further as service needs change.
- Working knowledge of NMC/HCPC professional conduct guidance and current perioperative issues.
- Excellent organisation, problem-solving ability and the capacity to stay composed under pressure.
