Key duties

- Carry out regular cleaning, intensive cleaning, and decontamination of ambulances and equipment exposed to HIV, Hepatitis, Norwalk, and similar contaminants, using proper protective equipment.
- Work with paramedics, supervisors, and IT staff to help resolve issues with radios and other communication equipment on BCEHS units.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks on equipment such as stretchers, stair chairs, scoop backboards, oxygen and suction systems, and glucometers in line with provincial standards and internal procedures.
- Provide courier support to stations by delivering and collecting equipment, restocking supplies, posting notices, and transporting confidential paperwork including payroll and other documents.
- Restock the stockroom, flag re-order needs using reorder cards, and remove expired or defective items from vehicles and storage areas.
- Accept incoming deliveries, unpack and verify goods, match invoices to orders and received items, and escalate any discrepancies.
- Remove waste and soiled linens from ambulances and workspaces, and complete simple unit repairs such as bulb replacement and stretcher locking bar fixes.
- Move BC Ambulance Service fleet vehicles to and from service centres for operational needs and, at times, directly to incident locations; this may also include province-wide fleet movement and returning retired fleet to centralized sites in Vancouver and/or Victoria.
- Spot operational issues, coordinate with the right staff, and ensure equipment and vehicles return to service quickly to reduce downtime.
- Support inventory tracking, including entering stock levels and re-order information into computerized systems and other relevant databases.
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
