Job description
Role overview
Emirates’ base maintenance operation carries out a wide range of aircraft support work, from detailed inspections and major repairs to cabin upgrades, aircraft handovers, engine changes, landing gear changes, unscheduled maintenance, and pre-service checks. The operation supports Airbus A380, A350, and Boeing 777 fleets, delivering efficient and cost-conscious maintenance solutions.
The Aircraft Technician is responsible for carrying out maintenance on Emirates and third-party aircraft and related components in line with company rules, procedures, and regulatory standards. This position works within a team under the supervision of a Licensed Aircraft Engineer, within the trade or cross-trade areas for which the technician has been trained.
Key duties
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance work on aircraft, engines, and components, and approved structural repairs in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Follow all safety requirements during fluid topping-up, refuelling, and charging or servicing aircraft systems.
- Replace components and complete maintenance activities as instructed by the supervisor, using the relevant technical documents such as the AMM, IPC, CMM, SRM, and other OEM-approved references.
- Assist Licensed Aircraft Engineers and approved/licensed technicians with fault-finding, repairs, and modifications based on job cards.
- Work efficiently to reduce delays, prepare tasks according to aircraft status, report defects without delay, and ensure proper shift handovers.
- Help maintain a strong safety culture by identifying and reporting issues, keeping the work area tidy and free from FOD, and checking tools, vehicles, and equipment regularly.
- Comply with airport safety rules, including holding a valid Airport Driving Permit and following manoeuvring area requirements.
- Support team targets and continuous improvement efforts through active collaboration.
- Where needed, use current aircraft maintenance knowledge to help with support work, repairs, modifications, resource allocation through RMS/RTC applications, and departmental projects.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering.
- Vocational or diploma-level qualification, equivalent to 12+2.
- Graduate-level education in engineering or another relevant field.
- Aircraft maintenance apprenticeship or equivalent training from a reputable airline or approved maintenance organisation, or an aircraft maintenance engineering licence.
- Experience in an aircraft engineering environment, including at least 2 years of on-the-job training with an airline or approved maintenance organisation.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
- PSMP role: yes.
