Job description
About the Company
Tagup develops AI-driven software for defense logistics and sustainment. Its platform, Manifest, supports faster and more informed decisions by helping operators work with maintenance, supply, and operational data.
Role Overview
The Air Force Lead will spearhead Tagup’s expansion within the U.S. Air Force and its sustainment and innovation ecosystem. This position is responsible for identifying, shaping, and winning opportunities in Air Force logistics, sustainment, predictive maintenance, and readiness, managing them from initial outreach through contract award. The role involves working across program offices, sustainment commands, innovation teams, and frontline operators, and will be built in close partnership with the founders and leadership team.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead Air Force business development across the full lifecycle, including opportunity discovery, capture, proposal coordination, and award support.
- Create and maintain a healthy Air Force pipeline spanning major commands, program offices, sustainment groups, and innovation organizations such as AFMC, AFLCMC, and AFWERX.
- Develop trusted relationships with senior Air Force acquisition stakeholders, program teams, and operational users.
- Align Air Force mission challenges with Tagup’s platform and convert those needs into opportunities with clear operational value.
- Advance opportunities through RFIs, RFPs, OTAs, SBIR/STTR transitions, demos, and pilot programs, with a focus on moving from prototype to program of record.
- Manage capture activities such as competitive assessments, probability-of-win analysis, teaming strategy, win themes, pricing inputs, and proposal reviews.
- Partner with product, engineering, and program leaders to ensure customer requirements are reflected in the roadmap and delivery plan.
- Represent Tagup at Air Force-related conferences, working sessions, and customer meetings while keeping forecasts and pipeline updates accurate.
What You Need
- At least 10 years of experience in the Air Force, defense acquisition, business development, capture, or program management.
- Practical understanding of Air Force logistics, sustainment, maintenance, or readiness organizations and their priorities.
- Existing relationships with Air Force program offices, major commands, or innovation groups.
- Familiarity with defense acquisition frameworks, including FAR/DFARS, OTAs, SBIR/STTR, rapid prototyping, and transition paths.
- Strong ability to connect technical capabilities to mission requirements, acquisition approaches, and operational outcomes.
- Excellent executive communication and writing skills, with the confidence to brief both senior acquisition leaders and operational commanders.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, uncertain, and growth-oriented environment.
- Readiness to travel as needed.
- Ability to obtain and keep a U.S. security clearance.
- BA/BS degree required; an advanced degree is considered an advantage.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected annual base salary for this role is $145,000 to $175,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Team members also participate in the company’s growth through an Employee Stock Option Plan. Additional benefits include comprehensive health coverage, access to a 401(k), and regular company outings.
