Intern, AI Engineer

Overview

Jurong Port is seeking an AI Engineer intern to contribute to data and artificial intelligence initiatives that support business and operational needs. The role offers exposure to modern AI, data engineering, and analytics work across areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, chatbots, and large language models.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to vendor-led projects and help evaluate AI and big data models against business requirements.
• Test both external and internally developed generative AI models and AI agents, assess their performance, and refine them based on results.
• Gather user feedback to improve how AI tools are deployed and adopted.
• Support the delivery of data and AI workshops or training sessions to help staff use analytics and AI tools for operations and planning.
• Write and apply code for data transformation tasks such as ETL, normalization, and aggregation, and assist with data visualization and analytics work in Power BI.

What We’re Looking For

• Applicants should be pursuing a degree in Applied AI/ML, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline; current undergraduate or graduate students are preferred.
• Comfort with programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Java.
• Background through coursework or prior exposure to data analytics and data visualization is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers is preferred.
• Exposure to large language models, generative AI tools such as OpenAI or LangChain, or deep learning will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform, through study or experience, is a plus.
• You should bring a strong analytical approach, sound problem-solving skills, adaptability, curiosity, and enthusiasm for emerging technologies.
