Job description
The Role
This position supports and advocates for the UK aerospace sector, helping shape policy positions and represent industry interests with government and other stakeholders. The remit spans decarbonisation, environmental policy, aviation safety regulation, supply chain resilience, and broader competitiveness topics, with the objective of building clear, evidence-led aerospace policy priorities for ADS.
You will take the lead on policy engagement with the Department for Business and Trade, the Department for Transport, and the Civil Aviation Authority. Working with colleagues across ADS, you will prepare data, analysis, and recommendations for member companies on the sector’s industrial value, and help develop well-supported positions on matters affecting growth, competitiveness, and regulation.
The role reports directly to the ADS Director of Policy and Public Affairs.
The Candidate
ADS is looking for a strong Policy Adviser with sound political awareness and solid experience of UK, EU, and international policy environments. The right person will combine sharp analytical thinking with excellent written communication skills.
You should be comfortable working in challenging stakeholder settings and capable of building trusted relationships with senior leaders, government contacts, and industry partners. Diplomacy, judgement, and a responsive approach are important in this role.
Organisation, administrative discipline, and technical confidence are essential, along with advanced IT ability and the capacity to handle several priorities at once while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
A self-starting, practical, and solution-oriented mindset is needed, together with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate should stay composed under pressure, adapt quickly, and communicate with confidence at senior level. Experience in a membership or representative body would be an advantage.
Contract & Working Pattern
This is a permanent full-time role, working Monday to Friday for 37.5 hours each week.
The arrangement is hybrid: three days per week in the London office and two days from home.
