Role overview
This position focuses on handling vendor invoices, processing payment requests, and keeping payable accounts accurately reconciled in line with internal procedures and timelines. The specialist will help ensure that all payable activities are carried out correctly, efficiently, and in compliance with company rules.
The role also supports month-end close activities, audit preparation, and financial reporting. A key part of the job is maintaining reliable records and identifying ways to improve processes so the finance function runs smoothly and with strong control.
Responsibilities
- Prepare payment requests based on invoices that have already been approved.
- Review, validate, and process invoices according to company policy and set deadlines.
- Record accounts payable entries in the correct ledger accounts.
- Match payable transactions, investigate differences, and resolve them promptly.
- Identify mistakes or inefficiencies in payment workflows and recommend practical improvements.
- Support internal and external audit activities while helping maintain accounting compliance.
- Coordinate with the finance team during month-end close, statement preparation, and other reporting tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar accounts payable role.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and electronic invoicing tools.
- Good understanding of accounts payable processes, financial controls, and reporting.
- Prior exposure to accounting systems such as SAGE50 or Batch tree is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational ability.
- Ability to work on your own as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
- Awareness of tax and audit compliance is considered a plus.
