About the role

Zabama Investment SMC Ltd is a growing start-up in the tissue and hygiene products manufacturing space, and it is hiring an Accounts & Admin Assistant for its Nabweru duty station. This is a full-time, on-site position for a versatile professional who can support finance, administration, operations, and customer-facing work in a fast-moving environment.

In this role, you will be a key support person for the business, acting as an initial contact for customers, suppliers, and partners while helping keep accounting and office operations organized and efficient.

Accounts & finance

  • Keep financial records accurate and up to date, and prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Manage invoicing, petty cash, and both accounts payable and receivable.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations and assist with audit-related work.
  • Support compliance with tax requirements such as VAT and PAYE.

Sales & customer relations

  • Respond to customer questions and handle front-desk or walk-in interactions as the first point of contact.
  • Process customer orders and follow up on unpaid balances.
  • Work with the sales team on order fulfilment and reporting.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.

Administration & operations

  • Oversee reception tasks, scheduling, correspondence, and document filing.
  • Assist with procurement and coordination of suppliers.
  • Provide broad operational support across daily business activities.
  • Help management with reporting, planning, and general day-to-day tasks.

Requirements

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, administration, or another role combining several functions.
  • Comfort using accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally, along with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
  • Strong communication, people skills, and organizational ability.
  • A self-motivated approach and confidence working across multiple responsibilities in a start-up setting.
  • High integrity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or trading business is also beneficial.
