Accountant (m/w/d)

Role overview

As an Accountant (m/w/d), you will play a key part in day-to-day financial accounting and help ensure that all bookkeeping processes are handled accurately, efficiently, and on time. The position also contributes to monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and supports the ongoing improvement of digital accounting workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Independently record and post ongoing business transactions across accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
• Carefully review and process incoming and outgoing bank transfers.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve open items.
• Assist with travel expense and reimbursement processing.
• Create and maintain accounting workflows in Sage 100 (financial accounting and merchandise management).
• Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with HGB.
• Handle statutory and institutional reporting, for example to the employers’ liability insurance association, Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Federal Statistical Office, and employer associations.
• Help improve, streamline, and digitize accounting processes in Sage 100, including E-Invoice, OCR, and E-BANF solutions.
• Act as a contact point for auditors, tax advisors, and internal departments.
• Take on general administrative duties within Finance & Controlling.

Candidate profile

You should bring a solid background in finance and accounting, along with strong technical and analytical skills. The role is best suited to someone who can work independently, communicates well, and enjoys improving processes in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

• A completed degree in business-related studies such as business administration, finance, or accounting, or a completed commercial apprenticeship with additional qualification such as IHK-certified balance sheet accountant.
• Several years of experience in financial accounting, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Very good knowledge of accounting under HGB; IFRS knowledge is an advantage.
• Confident use of ERP systems, preferably Sage 100.
• Strong Excel skills and good command of other MS Office tools.
• Good written and spoken German and English.
• Strong analytical thinking and a solid grasp of numbers.
• Accuracy, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with a confident manner when dealing with specialist teams and management.
• A proactive, structured, and solution-oriented way of working.
• High personal initiative, a hands-on attitude, and willingness to actively shape processes.
