About the Company
Based in Auckland’s CBD, the Auckland Finance Hub is seeking an Accountant to support the finance team across the CP Hotels portfolio, which spans from Auckland through to Queenstown. Role Overview
This role supports the Financial Controller in the day-to-day running of the finance function and includes preparing a range of portfolio-wide journals for month-end close.
Key Responsibilities
- Help maintain and improve hotel financial systems and work toward more efficient processes.
- Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure hotel cash-handling rules and procedures are followed without exception.
- Check payroll journal processing and step in to complete these tasks when the assistant accountant is unavailable.
- Create on-charge invoices for general expenses and payroll-related costs.
- Prepare and submit monthly and annual payroll tax returns as well as GST filings.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage end-of-month tasks, including journals for budget provisions, prepayments, cost of sales, and, where possible, general accrual journals for review by the financial controllers.
- Support the preparation of detailed monthly forecasts.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience as a hotel accountant or in a similar role.
- Background in general accounting within a hotel environment.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of SUN systems is a strong advantage.
- Ability to organise a large workload, meet deadlines, and stay effective under pressure.
- Capable of explaining accounting information, policies, and procedures clearly to people at all levels of the organisation.
