Role Overview

Agrocrown West Africa Co. Ltd is hiring an Accounts Officer to strengthen its finance operations in Bonwire, Kumasi, within the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The role is focused on maintaining reliable accounting records, handling transaction processing, supporting receivables and payables, and delivering accurate financial information that helps guide business decisions in the agrochemical trading space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture daily financial activity in the accounting system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Keep accounting files and supporting documents properly organized and up to date.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger balances.
  • Post sales, purchases, receipts, and payments on time.
  • Track customer balances and monitor overdue amounts.
  • Follow up on delinquent accounts and support debt collection efforts.
  • Generate customer statements and ageing schedules.
  • Perform regular reconciliation of customer accounts.
  • Match inventory records against physical stock counts.
  • Track stock movement and inventory valuation.
  • Investigate stock differences and report the findings.
  • Support scheduled stock audits for agrochemical products.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash balances and petty cash transactions.
  • Ensure all cash receipts and payments are backed by proper documentation.
  • Assist with cash flow tracking and forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and related schedules.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Provide financial information for budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Follow internal control procedures and help maintain compliance.
  • Support internal and external auditors during audit exercises.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, B.Com (Accounting), or BSc. Administration (Accounting). Having part qualification in ACCA, ICA Ghana, CIMA, or an equivalent professional body is considered an added advantage. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting or finance is required, preferably in agrochemical distribution, agriculture, FMCG, or trading environments. Candidates should also have at least 2 years of relevant exposure in agrochemical, fertilizer, seed, crop protection, agricultural input distribution, or FMCG trading businesses, especially where inventory management and credit control are involved.

  • Ability to handle deadlines and deliver work on time.
  • Comfort using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
