Job description
About Anthem
Anthem is an independent entertainment marketing consultancy that helps connect audiences with live experiences across the arts, culture, and major events. The agency is built on passion, creative courage, and collaborative thinking, with a strong belief in inclusive teamwork and ideas-led structures rather than hierarchy.
The team values people who are committed to making meaningful work, bringing fresh perspectives, and contributing to projects that genuinely matter. This role sits within the senior team and is suited to someone who wants to help shape both client outcomes and the agency’s direction.
Role overview
Anthem is seeking an experienced Account Director to take on a leadership role within its senior team. The successful candidate will look beyond day-to-day account servicing, build long-term client partnerships, own key stakeholder relationships, and work closely with the Executive Directors to influence agency direction. The position calls for commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and the ability to spot growth opportunities early while keeping audiences at the centre of the work.
What you’ll do
You will lead client relationships, oversee integrated campaign delivery, manage budgets, support team development, and help drive business growth. Your work will involve close collaboration across departments, strong financial stewardship, and active participation in industry positioning and new business activity.
Client relationship and project leadership
- Serve as the main senior contact for important clients, building relationships based on trust, openness, consistency, and shared goals.
- Provide strategic guidance and practical problem-solving that adds value and goes beyond standard service.
- Keep client communication frequent and clear so service quality remains strong throughout every stage of delivery.
Campaign development and delivery
- Direct campaigns from planning through execution, bringing together strategy, creative, production, content, and wider agency capabilities to meet objectives.
- Make sure each campaign stays aligned with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Work with teams across the agency to ensure strategy, objectives, and delivery stay connected.
- Review campaign results and share useful insights and recommendations for ongoing improvement.
Financial responsibility
- Take ownership of account budgets and financial performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets.
- Work with the Finance team on accurate budgeting, forecasting, and tracking.
- Provide clients with clear and timely budget updates.
Team leadership and development
- Lead, coach, and motivate the account team, setting a strong standard for client service and campaign execution.
- Oversee project management, planning, and day-to-day delivery across your portfolio.
- Support collaborative working across departments and contribute to team learning and capability growth.
- Take ownership of assigned special projects and agency-wide initiatives.
Business growth
- Contribute to new business pitches, proposals, and presentations that help win new clients and deepen current relationships.
- Work with leadership to uncover and pursue new commercial opportunities.
- Use existing client relationships to open the door to additional Anthem services.
Industry presence
- Maintain strong connections with clients, suppliers, and broader industry contacts to strengthen Anthem’s position in the market.
- Represent the agency at industry functions, launches, and networking events.
- Track market movements, competitor activity, and industry developments to support informed planning.
About you
This role is designed for a senior marketing professional with strong experience in live entertainment or adjacent sectors, along with a proven ability to lead teams and manage high-value client relationships. You should be commercially minded, highly organised, confident under pressure, and genuinely enthusiastic about culture, performance, and major events.
Working environment and culture
Anthem’s workplace is shaped by the values of Courage, Heart, Curiosity, and Imagination. The team operates from a bright, open-plan office on Exhibition Street in Melbourne’s CBD, with a close-knit group of 23 people. The environment is collaborative, energetic, and designed to reward strong work and strong people.
Perks and growth
- Regular tickets to shows, events, and opening nights.
- Ongoing development through internal mentoring, external seminars, and industry workshops.
- A collaborative team culture with regular social activities and team events.
- A well-located, light-filled office space in the Melbourne CBD.
Application process
Applicants are asked to send a CV and a short cover letter explaining why this role appeals to them and why Anthem is the right next step. Applications close on 30 June 2026.
