Role overview
This permanent Waterfront Supervisor position is based in Darwin and focuses on improving delivery across Planned Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, Depot Level Maintenance periods, and Service Visits while keeping the vessel in class condition. The position is carried out in line with local and state legislation as well as company policies and procedures.
Security clearance requirement
This role is limited to candidates who are Australian citizens and who can obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Key purpose of the role
The Waterfront Supervisor is responsible for coordinating maintenance and project delivery so that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standard. The role supports contract work scope delivery and helps ensure vessel maintenance outcomes meet applicable specifications and standards.
What you will do
- Prepare, plan, and execute work lists.
- Check quality and control the defined work scope.
- Ensure work is delivered safely.
- Maintain compliance with relevant requirements.
- Support timely and cost-effective completion of contracted work.
- Assist business managers with contractor and resource coordination.
- Plan project and maintenance task activities.
- Track schedules and provide progress reporting.
- Monitor and report on financial performance.
- Set and communicate expectations to all stakeholders.
- Work closely with program and project teams to ensure clear communication.
- Inspect and approve completed works where required.
- Apply quality processes so work aligns with the relevant ISO standard and project specifications.
- Follow environmental and safety obligations.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the line manager or ABF Program Manager.
Required experience and capabilities
Applicants should bring a relevant engineering, project management, maintenance, or trade background, along with practical project supervision experience in the marine or maintenance sector. A strong understanding of safety management is essential, including confined spaces, working at heights, energised systems, isolations, risk assessments, permits, and Job Safety and Environment Analysis. The role also calls for solid planning and scheduling skills, good trade and service time coordination, experience handling internal and external disputes and negotiations, and the ability to lead and develop a cooperative team culture.
Desirable background
Additional value will be placed on experience in quoting and estimating, project planning, using CMMS systems, and trade management or leadership and management.
