Overview
Marina Bay Sands is seeking an Upholstery Technician to help maintain upholstered table surrounds and related layouts across the property. This role is part of a team of skilled professionals focused on high standards, operational efficiency, and minimizing disruption to Slot and Table Games activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the upkeep of upholstered table surrounds and layouts throughout all areas of the Marina Bay Sands complex.
- Adapt tasks and methods to improve efficiency, with a strong focus on reducing downtime for Slot and Table Games.
- Help receive and inspect incoming materials, equipment, and layout orders to confirm they match purchase order requirements.
- Carry out quality and layout inspections in line with departmental standard operating procedures.
- Assist in destroying outdated or unapproved layouts.
- Provide support for gaming table carpentry modifications when needed.
- Take part in assignments and special projects as requested, ensuring work is completed efficiently and with minimal operational interruption.
- Perform duties in line with company policies and in support of the organisation’s vision, mission, and values.
- Handle other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Education and certification
- ITE qualification or an equivalent technical credential.
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience as an upholsterer, ideally in furniture manufacturing or hospitality-related furniture repair.
- Prior work in an Engineering or Facilities team handling upholstery-related tasks is preferred.
Technical competencies
- Strong practical knowledge of upholstery work.
- Understanding of fabric types and classifications.
- Ability to use portable hand-sewing tools, nail guns, hobnail tack hammers, hot-knife cutters, and similar industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with basic soft furniture frame construction or repair.
