Transportation Planner

Overview

Smart Green Traffic and Means of Transportation Planning Engineering Consultancy is hiring an experienced Transportation Planner in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role is focused on traffic impact studies and transportation infrastructure planning, with the candidate expected to bring at least 5 years of hands-on experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering in the UAE, especially Abu Dhabi.

What you will do

• Prepare traffic impact studies for residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and institutional projects, and submit them in a format that satisfies authority expectations.
• Handle transportation infrastructure planning applications from preparation through submission and follow-up in the Abu Dhabi Mobility system.
• Work with Abu Dhabi Mobility and other public authorities during review cycles, approvals, and technical clarifications.
• Carry out traffic studies including data collection and analysis, trip generation, trip distribution, traffic assignment, and capacity assessments.
• Evaluate junction and network performance using accepted traffic engineering methods and tools.
• Identify transport-related impacts and propose practical mitigation measures and infrastructure improvements.
• Draft technical reports, presentation materials, and supporting documents required for authority submissions.
• Join meetings with clients and government stakeholders to explain findings and address technical comments.
• Ensure all work aligns with Abu Dhabi Mobility standards, local procedures, and established international transportation engineering practices.
• Contribute to business development efforts by preparing technical proposals and transportation planning approaches when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering.
• Proven track record of preparing Traffic Impact Studies and securing approvals for Transportation Infrastructure Planning submissions in Abu Dhabi.
• Strong working knowledge of Abu Dhabi Mobility requirements, standards, and approval procedures.
• Solid understanding of transportation analysis methods and traffic engineering fundamentals.
• Excellent English technical writing and communication skills; Arabic is an added advantage.
• Practical experience with traffic analysis software such as SIDRA Intersection, PTV VISSIM, PTV VISUM, Synchro, or comparable tools.
