Trainee Davenport Operator

Position Overview

This role is centered on the efficient preparation, operation, and upkeep of Davenport multi-spindle turning equipment used to manufacture precision components. The position calls for strong mechanical understanding, a careful eye for detail, and the ability to read complex engineering drawings. Working under the Production Manager, the operator will help uphold high standards in quality, safety, and output.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and run Davenport multi-spindle turning machines to meet production needs.
• Select, prepare, and fit the correct tooling and materials before production begins.
• Carry out basic fault-finding and minor machine maintenance.
• Handle materials such as Aluminum, 17-4 Stainless Steel, and specialty alloys including Inconel 718 and A286.
• Follow proper material-handling methods to avoid damage or contamination.
• Read technical drawings and specifications in both metric and imperial formats, including geometric tolerancing.
• Measure and check finished parts to confirm they meet design and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate production records and other required documentation.
• Comply with all workplace safety procedures and protocols.
• Keep the work area orderly and clean in line with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
• Coordinate with the Production Manager and team members to keep work flowing and address production issues.
• Communicate clearly in English, spoken and written.
