About the Role
The Singapore University of Technology and Design is seeking a contract Sustainability Program Manager to help shape and deliver its sustainability agenda on campus. This position focuses on translating strategic sustainability goals into practical initiatives that support environmental responsibility and the university’s long-term net zero ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and advance corporate sustainability strategies so the university’s Sustainability Plan targets are achieved.
- Support environmentally responsible practices and processes across the institution while contributing to the goals of the Singapore Green Plan.
- Partner with university leaders and the wider community to implement sustainability initiatives that lower the institution’s carbon footprint.
- Represent the university’s sustainability philosophy to internal and external audiences through strong presentations and clear communication in both English and Chinese.
- Work closely with research centres, faculty members, staff, and students to deepen sustainability awareness, encourage positive behaviour, and support sustainability-related research through workshops, learning journeys, and events.
Skills and Capabilities
The role calls for someone who can lead sustainability programs, interpret carbon and sustainability data, and apply systems thinking or design thinking to solve complex organisational challenges. The ideal candidate should also be able to build engagement, generate support for initiatives, and communicate persuasively across teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in sustainability operations.
- Strong ability in critical and creative problem-solving, with design thinking being highly desirable.
- Proven leadership capability.
- Strong data management skills.
- Excellent presentation skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to turn data into compelling presentations for both language audiences.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or an ecology-related field.
