Support Security (Shift Security Officer)

Job purpose

Hindalco Alupuram Works is an aluminium extrusion manufacturing facility in Kerala with casting, extrusion, downstream operations, warehouses, administrative blocks, contractor work areas, residential colonies, and guest houses across a large campus. The site runs continuously, with expensive assets, essential utilities, and round-the-clock movement of people, materials, and vehicles. The security team is essential for protecting the company’s personnel, equipment, property, and materials in an environment that includes hot work, heavy machinery, and strict safety and compliance standards.

The campus includes a mixed workforce of permanent staff, contract labour, migrant workers, vendors, and visitors, so strong access control, alert monitoring, and accurate documentation are required at every entry and exit point. Because of the active trade union environment, a well-informed workforce, and the location near residential and public areas, the role also supports maintaining a calm, disciplined, and incident-free industrial relations atmosphere. Security staff are expected to deal with employees, contractors, unions, and visitors with consistency, fairness, and professionalism.

The position also involves close monitoring of material flow, vehicle movement, scrap handling, and dispatch operations, since any lapse can create safety, financial, or compliance issues. In addition, security personnel must help with emergency response readiness for fire, medical, natural, and external security incidents in coordination with factory leadership, the safety team, and local agencies such as the police and fire services.

Key responsibilities

• Protect men, materials, machinery, and property across the plant and associated facilities.
• Control access and maintain strict entry/exit checks for employees, contractors, vendors, visitors, vehicles, and materials.
• Monitor movement of raw materials, finished goods, scrap, dispatches, and transport vehicles.
• Maintain records and documentation for security operations and gate activity.
• Stay vigilant in a high-risk industrial environment involving heavy equipment and safety-sensitive work.
• Support order, discipline, and peaceful working relations across a diverse workforce and stakeholder base.
• Respond promptly to emergencies such as fires, medical situations, natural calamities, and external threats.
• Coordinate with management, safety personnel, and local authorities whenever required.
• Work effectively in shifts and remain alert during night duties, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Prior experience in security operations or industrial security is preferred for this role.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Strong vigilance, discipline, integrity, and professionalism.
• Comfortable working around shop floors, warehouses, and external stakeholders.
• Capability to handle emergency situations calmly and responsibly.
• Must follow company safety and security procedures at all times.
• Ability to work under pressure in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Additional information

This is a demanding shift-based position in a 24×7 industrial setting. The role involves routine exposure to shop-floor operations, warehouse activity, and interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Emergency response duties are an important part of the job.
