Substation Protection Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Substation Protection Engineer to join our team in Saudi Arabia. The position calls for solid expertise in power-system protection, relay configuration, and substation automation. You will take ownership of the design, engineering, testing, and deployment of protection solutions for high-voltage substations, working with different teams to support dependable and safe electrical network operations.

Key Expertise

• Verification of schemes, auxiliary and trip relays, MCCBs, meters, and protection & control IEDs
• Stability checks, final trip testing, and live substation work
• Hands-on experience with ABB, MICOM, and SIEMENS relay systems

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with power systems as the specialization
• At least 5 years of experience in substation protection engineering
• Working knowledge of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards
• Strong grasp of power-system protection concepts, relay coordination, and substation automation
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on your own as well as collaboratively within a team
• For non-citizens, the engineering degree must have been awarded at least 5 years ago

This role is based in Ras Tanura, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia and is offered on a full-time, onsite basis.
