Overview

Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit organization focused on domestic violence prevention, is hiring a full-time, exempt Prevention Specialist based in Kansas City, Missouri. The role reports to the Director of Prevention and delivers violence-prevention programming in elementary classrooms across Jackson County, with the main emphasis on leading student groups for children in Grades 1–5.

The specialist will help students build resilience and strengthen emotional regulation skills while partnering with Project SAFE staff, school personnel, and students. The position also includes creating and improving curriculum both independently and with the team, along with keeping program documentation and client outcome reports accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver violence-prevention services in elementary classrooms throughout Jackson County, Missouri.
  • Facilitate student groups for learners in Grades 1–5.
  • Teach resilience-building and emotional regulation skills.
  • Work closely with Project SAFE staff, school staff, and students.
  • Develop, refine, and strengthen curriculum on an individual and collaborative basis.
  • Maintain complete, timely program records and outcome reports.
  • Carry out duties in line with Rose Brooks Center’s competencies, mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Take part in required training, as well as additional training when assigned.
  • Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.

Requirements

Additional Information

This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled Monday through Friday, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. The work is primarily school-based, though some time will also be spent in an office setting on-site. Evening and weekend availability may be needed at times.

Compensation begins at an annual salary of $46,000, and the role includes a comprehensive benefits package.
