Relief Security Officer

Role overview

Securitas UK is seeking a Relief Security Officer in Wimborne, UK. This is a full-time relief position involving days, nights, and weekends, with a total of 40 hours per week. The hourly pay is £14.00.

What the role involves

You will cover security duties across different sites as needed, helping safeguard people, buildings, and assets. The position requires a valid SIA licence, strong integrity, consistent vigilance, and a helpful approach at all times. Because this is a relief role, you must be dependable, adaptable, and able to step into shifts at short notice while quickly adjusting to varying site requirements.

Core duties

The job focuses on protecting property and premises, supporting health and safety, preventing loss and crime, and delivering strong customer service. You will be expected to follow site instructions and company procedures while representing Securitas values in day-to-day work.

Protection of property and premises

• Control access to sites and monitor alarms and CCTV systems.
• Stop unauthorised entry and carry out internal and external patrols.
• Report security and safety concerns, handle keys, and respond to incidents.
• Work in line with assignment instructions at all times.

Health and safety

• Encourage safe working habits and report hazards and near misses.
• Complete accident reports when needed.
• Help ensure first aid supplies and emergency procedures remain in good order.

Loss prevention and incident reporting

• Report items that are lost, damaged, or stolen.
• Use radios, pagers, and other security equipment as required.
• Carry out stop/search checks where appropriate.
• Record suspicious activity accurately.

Customer service and administration

• Support staff and visitors with a professional and courteous manner.
• Keep a smart appearance and maintain professionalism.
• Complete logs and reports carefully and on time.
• Follow management guidance and company policy consistently.

Requirements and qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a valid SIA licence, the right to work in the UK, and be 18 years of age or older. You should be flexible enough to work days, nights, and weekends, have good communication and customer service skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required. Securitas also expects a five-year checkable work history with no criminal convictions. Previous security experience and a First Aid qualification are preferred.
