Role overview
McAfee is hiring a Product Analyst to turn data into product decisions that improve user experience across its security offerings. In this role, you will uncover actionable insights, design sound experiments, and build a strong understanding of customer behavior so product, design, and engineering teams can make better choices.
This position is hybrid and based in either Waterloo or Toronto, Canada. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of one of these locations. Onsite presence will be needed as required, while the rest of the work can be done from a home office.
What you'll do
- Shape the experimentation approach by planning, running, and interpreting A/B tests and quasi-experiments to measure how product changes affect engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
- Analyze user behavior in depth across journeys such as onboarding, feature usage, and retention cohorts to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Set and maintain core metrics, including north-star measures, KPIs, and guardrails, with consistent definitions used across teams and dashboards.
- Convert complex analysis into practical recommendations that inform product priorities and roadmap decisions.
- Work with data engineering and platform teams to strengthen telemetry, improve data models, and support dependable reporting.
- Use advanced statistical methods such as segmentation, cohort analysis, regression, and causal inference to understand what drives product performance and user behavior.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to embed analytics throughout the product development process.
- Help raise the standard of analytics work by coaching other analysts on test design, metric planning, and effective storytelling.
- Present findings clearly through dashboards, presentations, and narratives for stakeholders and leadership.
What we're looking for
- 5 to 8 years of experience in product analytics, advanced analytics, or data science with a strong product orientation.
- Practical experience with experimentation, including A/B testing and quasi-experimental approaches such as difference-in-differences and matching.
- Strong SQL and Python skills for analysis, along with a solid grasp of statistics and hypothesis testing.
- Hands-on experience analyzing funnels, retention, user journeys, and feature adoption.
- Experience using BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to communicate insights.
- Understanding of event-based telemetry and how to define tracking for digital products.
- Ability to connect analysis to product strategy and customer experience outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions across teams.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related area is preferred.
