Procurement Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a Procurement Engineer with a civil engineering background to support estimation and tendering activities for a contracting business in Sharjah, UAE. The role is focused on roads, infrastructure, utilities, asphalt works, and broader civil construction projects, with a strong emphasis on securing competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Experience in the Northern Emirates and the wider UAE market is highly valued.

What You Will Do

• Assist the Estimation team during pre-tender and tender phases.
• Examine tender packages, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and procurement needs.
• Collect and assess quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors for roadworks, asphalt, infrastructure, drainage, utilities, landscaping, and civil works.
• Prepare comparison statements and procurement recommendations for management review.
• Discuss pricing, delivery timelines, and commercial terms with vendors and subcontractors.
• Contribute to competitive tender pricing and detailed cost build-ups.
• Work alongside estimators, engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure costing accuracy.
• Identify alternate suppliers, materials, and value-engineering options that can improve bid strength.
• Keep supplier databases, market pricing, and subcontractor records current.
• Track material price movements and market conditions that may affect tender rates.
• Assist with procurement planning after award and coordinate supplier engagement where needed.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• At least 3 to 5 years of UAE experience in procurement, estimation support, or tendering for civil contracting projects.
• Hands-on exposure to roads, infrastructure, utilities, drainage, and asphalt works.
• Solid understanding of suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors in the Northern Emirates and across the UAE.
• Familiarity with asphalt, aggregates, road marking materials, kerbstones, interlock, utility items, and related infrastructure products.
• Prior experience with infrastructure or road contracting firms is strongly preferred.
• Commercially aware, analytical, and able to handle pressure and tight tender timelines.
• Strong negotiation, coordination, and communication abilities.
• UAE driving license is preferred.
• Technical capability with tender procurement, commercial evaluation, cost analysis, rate checking, market benchmarking, BOQ review, and quantity verification.
• Software exposure should include Candy Estimation Software as a plus, advanced Excel, basic to intermediate AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems advantageously.
