About the Role

The Scion Group is looking for an immediate hire for a Porter/Gatekeeper at a residential property in Athens, GA. This position focuses on keeping shared spaces clean, orderly, and well maintained across both indoor and outdoor areas. In addition to housekeeping and grounds care, the role may involve support with basic maintenance, cleaning, and moving tasks.

The ideal candidate is service-minded, comfortable working in a collegiate setting, and able to take initiative, notice details, and follow through reliably.

Responsibilities

• Keep the property in line with the company’s operating procedures, OSHA guidance, and industry expectations.
• Carry out physically demanding tasks that help preserve the asset and reduce safety or liability risks.
• Remove trash and other debris from shared areas throughout the day.
• As scheduled, clean curbs, parking areas, walkways, and stairways by sweeping away debris.
• Repair or maintain loose stair treads.
• Service exterior lighting by changing failed bulbs and reporting supply needs to a supervisor.
• Mow lawns, collect clippings, trim planting beds, and clear leaves and other debris from landscaped areas as needed.
• Apply weed-and-feed treatments, overseed, and water lawn areas when required.
• Install seasonal plants, replacement shrubs and trees, and decorative rock or water features.
• Trim and prune trees and shrubs as assigned.
• Adjust, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and fountains when necessary.
• Clean the pool and spa according to manufacturer instructions and code requirements.
• Complete routine repairs and maintenance on pool equipment as directed.
• Know the property’s emergency procedures, including shutoff valve locations and access points for sewer cleanouts and fuse panels.
• Encourage safety practices to help prevent property damage, loss, or injury to residents and visitors.
• Keep ground drainage grates free of leaves and debris.
• Pressure wash sidewalks, buildings, pool decks, and similar surfaces.
• Support snow removal efforts when needed.
• Complete any job-related training requested by management.
• Wear the required uniform and maintain a neat, professional look and attitude.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or trade school completion, plus one year of full-time experience in lawn or grounds maintenance; an equivalent mix of education and experience will also be considered.
• Ability to read instructions and track labor and material usage accurately.
• A dependable attendance record, the ability to work under deadlines, and flexibility for after-hours and weekend emergencies.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to remain standing for 8 hours or more and lift up to 100 lbs when needed.

Operational Details

• The position is based at the assigned property.
• The role includes on-call coverage except during approved PTO.
