Pool Hostess

About the Role

This position is for a Pool Hostess at Hyatt Regency Harare. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming, and well-managed poolside experience while delivering service that reflects the hotel’s standards. The successful candidate will support day-to-day pool area operations, assist guests with information and requests, and help maintain a clean, orderly, and secure environment.

Key Duties

• Greet visitors warmly and help ensure they feel safe and comfortable around the pool area.
• Support the smooth running of the pool area in line with Hyatt standards.
• Provide service that is courteous, professional, efficient, and adaptable at all times.
• Carry out assigned duties flexibly across the workplace as required.
• Stay fully informed about the hotel’s facilities and services.
• Complete opening and closing routines for the assigned area.
• Keep the pool, furnishings, and related facilities clean and safe.
• Remain fully knowledgeable in first aid and lifesaving techniques.
• Use pool equipment effectively and responsibly.
• Respond to guest questions politely and efficiently, and escalate complaints or issues to the Spa Supervisor.
• Prioritise guest wellbeing and safety in every interaction.
• Offer accurate guidance on pool, spa, and gym services and activities.
• Stay observant and responsive to guest needs.
• Provide towels and assist guests with their requests as needed.
• Remove used towels, glasses, and waste from the area.
• Report damage, incidents, or unusual situations to the supervisor promptly.
• Help ensure that pool facilities are used appropriately.
• Deliver professional and considerate service to colleagues and other visitors within the department.
• Maintain positive relationships with guests and team members.

Requirements

• Prior exposure to hospitality, spa, recreation, or guest service environments is preferred.
• Being able to swim is mandatory.
• Strong people skills and clear communication are essential.
• A guest-first mindset with enthusiasm for service excellence and upselling is needed.
• Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions is required.
• Physical fitness is important, including the ability to remain standing for long periods.
• Knowledge of pool hygiene, safety practices, and first aid/lifesaving certification is expected.
• An energetic, outgoing self-starter is well suited to the role.
