Planning Engineer

An experienced Planning Engineer is needed to support a project team in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role focuses on building, updating, tracking, and managing project schedules for large construction assignments, along with accurate progress reporting, forecasting, and schedule evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and keep up-to-date detailed project timelines in Primavera P6.
• Track actual project progress and assess how schedule performance is trending.
• Produce progress updates, delay assessments, and recovery strategies.
• Work closely with project teams to keep activities moving on time.
• Spot schedule-related risks and suggest ways to reduce them.
• Assist project management with planning inputs, resource planning, and reporting.
• Verify that project milestones and contractual commitments are being met.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders on planning and scheduling matters.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent relevant field is required.
• The ideal candidate should bring 8 to 12 years of planning and scheduling experience in large-scale building projects.
• Background in residential, accommodation, mixed-use, institutional, or similar developments is expected.
• Advanced-level expertise in Primavera P6 is essential.
• Experience delivering projects of similar scale and complexity is required.
• Prior Qatar experience is preferred; GCC experience may also be accepted.
• MMUP/UPDA registration is preferred for candidates already in Qatar and mandatory where applicable.
• A solid grasp of construction methods, project controls, and scheduling fundamentals is necessary.
• Exposure to Qatar Energy standards, major clients, consultants, and local authority regulations will be an advantage.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills are required.
• Leadership, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities are important.
