Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacy Technician position in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The selected candidate will assist licensed pharmacists by handling prescriptions carefully, preparing medicines, and ensuring labels and records are completed correctly in line with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties

• Help process prescriptions accurately and support the preparation of medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Make sure medicines are labeled properly and documentation is maintained with care.
• Assist with stock management by monitoring inventory, tracking quantities, replenishing supplies, and arranging storage neatly.
• Check expiry dates regularly to help maintain a safe and efficient pharmacy environment.
• Support customers politely by answering questions that are within the technician’s scope of practice.
• Handle point-of-sale transactions and maintain clear, organized records.
• Work closely with pharmacists and teammates to keep operations running smoothly and ensure a positive patient experience.

Qualifications and Professional Fit

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of prescription processing and pharmacy procedures, along with experience assisting in a pharmacy technician or similar role. Familiarity with inventory tracking, ordering, and organized storage systems is important. Strong customer service ability is needed, with clear communication, empathy, and professionalism in a busy pharmacy setting.

Applicants should have relevant pharmacy technician training or certification and be familiar with Tanzania’s local pharmacy regulations. High attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and paperwork, and a strong commitment to safety and confidentiality are essential. Basic computer literacy is required for pharmacy software and POS systems, and prior experience in a retail or clinical pharmacy would be an advantage. The role requires full-time on-site availability and the ability to cooperate effectively with pharmacists and colleagues while managing time well.
