Role Overview

Bayshore is seeking compassionate Personal Support Workers who want to make a meaningful difference in clients’ daily lives. In this position, you will provide personal care and support with daily living activities according to the care plan and under the direction of the immediate supervisor, while following all internal and external standards of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care based on the established care plan or assignment sheet while promoting the client’s emotional, spiritual, physical comfort, and safety.
  • Carry out personal support tasks within the provincial PSW scope of practice, such as skin, hair, and mouth care; bathing; bowel and bladder care; positioning and movement; exercise; basic wound care; feeding, including special diets; and reminders for oxygen use and medication.
  • Perform specialized, client-specific procedures only when the required training and current competency have been demonstrated.
  • Monitor client status, document observations according to company standards, and escalate unusual incidents or condition changes to the supervisor or office.
  • Apply infection prevention practices consistently.
  • Take part in ongoing internal or external learning and education activities.
  • Follow Bayshore policies and procedures at all times.
  • Contribute to quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts aligned with the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Support health and safety activities during all duties and report any hazards or concerns to the immediate supervisor.

The Personal Support Worker reports to the Clinical Manager, as applicable. Performance is expected to remain consistently strong across all job duties, responsibilities, goals, and objectives. Reviews are conducted continuously, with a formal review at the end of the three-month probation period and then at least once every year. Feedback may be gathered from employees and consultants at the branch and National Development Centre, as relevant.
