LMS Energy is recruiting a Payroll Supervisor for its Unley, South Australia office. This position reports to the Group Leader – People and Culture and supports the payroll function in meeting key operational goals through close coordination and dependable day-to-day oversight.

Role responsibilities

  • Manage and approve fortnightly payroll so employees are paid in line with their employment terms, including superannuation, entitlements and tax obligations.
  • Oversee preparation of rate sheets for new starters covering salary, tax, deductions, superannuation contributions and leave details for payroll processing.
  • Supervise reconciliation and submission of Single Touch Payroll (STP) to the ATO after each pay run and at the end of the financial year.
  • Make sure travel allowances, long-term travel payments, on-call bonuses, time in lieu, extra hours, terminations and performance bonuses are processed quickly and accurately.
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly superannuation reconciliations are completed and ready for payment.
  • Keep employee information updated in TechOne, including child support deductions and parental leave payments.
  • Oversee preparation and payment of monthly and annual payroll tax returns across each state.
  • Supervise annual WorkCover wage reporting to the relevant workers compensation authority.
  • Ensure end-of-financial-year payroll activities are completed and system data is prepared for the next year.
  • Improve payroll processes and procedures continuously, and assess whether TechOne remains suitable for growth and greater automation.
  • Assign work within the payroll team and establish clear operating procedures.
  • Serve as the main escalation contact for payroll issues or disputes, escalating to senior management when needed.
  • Provide remuneration guidance to leaders and People & Culture, including salary benchmarking, market analysis, recommendations and support for remuneration reviews and workforce planning.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of payroll experience.
  • Experience working with payroll systems; Technology One is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and compliance requirements.
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational ability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll practices and compliance.
  • Strong systems capability, including data integrity management, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence.
