About the Role
The company is looking for an Operations Manager to oversee and improve warehouse and delivery operations in the Austin market. This person will partner closely with the Head of Operations and Regional Manager to grow the operation, raise efficiency, and maintain a smooth customer journey from start to finish.
This position covers both warehouse operations and driver performance, including a mix of W2 warehouse employees and independent contractor drivers. It is a very hands-on role and will be central to strengthening the operational base of a rapidly growing startup.
What You’ll Do
- Manage day-to-day warehouse and driver activity so inbound and outbound work runs smoothly.
- Recruit, lead, and support both warehouse employees and independent contractor drivers.
- Balance driver supply with order demand to maintain proper coverage and efficiency.
- Review operational results and key metrics to find opportunities to improve performance.
- Study daily workflows and introduce process changes that improve speed and accuracy.
- Maintain a consistently strong customer experience across deliveries, returns, and issue handling.
- Collaborate with the Head of Operations and headquarters team to share insights and drive improvements.
- Create and refine workflows, tools, and operating practices that support scalability and efficiency.
- Monitor operating costs and help maintain budget discipline and performance accountability.
- Take the lead on resolving delays, escalations, and other operational problems.
- Promote a team culture built on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree, or at least 4 years of relevant experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or operations management.
- 2 to 4+ years of experience leading teams, including contractors or frontline workers.
- Background in managing complex, fast-paced operational settings.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with a focus on improving processes and executing reliably.
- Comfort working with performance data and turning insights into action.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present findings to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work full-time on site at a warehouse facility.
- A strong ownership mentality and a practical, hands-on leadership style.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a high-growth startup or other rapidly scaling environment.
- Exposure to e-commerce logistics and returns workflows.
- Ability to use Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools for analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Sigma or comparable tools.
- Previous experience managing networks of independent contractor drivers.

Work Location
This is an on-site position based at Sway’s Austin warehouse.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is USD 85,000 to 100,000 per year.
