Operational Support Grade

About the role

Serco is seeking an Operational Support Grade to contribute to the safe and secure running of Auckland South Corrections Facility in Auckland, New Zealand. This is a full-time position on a rotating roster, with shifts across 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. The role sits within the Operations team and involves moving across different operational areas to help keep the site running smoothly.

What you will do

• Oversee control room activities and keep security monitoring systems under observation.
• Manage vehicle and visitor entry at the Gatehouse and main sallyport.
• Handle applications for prison visits submitted by prisoners’ friends and family.
• Process incoming visitors arriving to see their whanau members in custody.
• Manage the movement of property into and out of the facility.
• Spot potential security issues and raise work orders linked to the security management system.
• Keep operational communication accurate and current across the site at all times.
• Assist with reintegration and rehabilitation-related activities.

Selection and clearance requirements

• Ability to work rotating 24/7 shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• A full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Ability to obtain Ministry of Justice and New Zealand Police vetting clearance.
• Ability to obtain medical clearance where required.
• This role is subject to a thorough probity assessment, including a New Zealand Police Check.
