  • Create system-specific commissioning and start-up procedures based on the design intent, construction drawings, submittals, specifications, operating sequences, and system/process integration needs.
  • Examine contractor testing methods, test records, and field testing activities to confirm they satisfy code and regulatory verification requirements across project disciplines.
  • Perform walk-downs of mechanical systems, verify installation against drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, and applicable legal requirements, and report gaps, errors, and corrective actions through field reports and punch lists.
  • Execute functional acceptance testing and confirm the operation and integration of mechanical components as part of a complete controlled system.
  • Review drawings and specifications to check that equipment has been installed correctly and meets owner project requirements.

Experience and knowledge needed

  • At least 5 years of mechanical or process experience at journeyman level, or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five to ten years of relevant construction-industry experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

  • Noise levels are generally moderate.
  • You may need to lift or move more than 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, plus the ability to adjust focus.
  • You must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hard hat, lab coat, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and respirators.
  • The job requires safe movement through indoor and outdoor obstacles during site inspections, including ladders, stairs, catwalks, and uneven surfaces.
