Role Overview

This full-time, permanent position is based in Mississauga, Ontario. The Manager, Transportation Operations will oversee daily transportation and dispatch activity to support safe, efficient, and on-time shipment movement. The role involves guiding dispatchers, drivers, and support teams while aligning operations with business goals, customer commitments, and legal requirements.

The manager will also respond to live operational disruptions such as vehicle failures, incidents, and unexpected absences, helping maintain service levels and regional performance.

Schedule and Travel

The role follows a day-shift schedule from Monday to Friday, with some flexibility as needed. Travel is expected to be about 10–15%.

Key Duties

  • Lead, supervise, and provide direction to dispatch staff, including daily task planning and workload allocation.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound freight movement while keeping daily priorities and weekly transportation goals on track.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop team members to strengthen performance and ongoing improvement.
  • Organize staff schedules across all shifts to maintain 24-hour coverage based on business demand.
  • Assist dispatchers and front-line supervisors in handling routine operational issues.
  • Track service performance, operational indicators, and KPIs to make sure customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Review weekly performance reporting and update resourcing plans when needed.
  • Confirm that required training and certifications remain current.
  • Serve as the main operational point of contact for billing and payroll concerns.
  • Uphold and reinforce safety, compliance, and company policy standards.

  • Understanding of the Highway Traffic Act, Hours of Service rules, TDG requirements, and weight limits.
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
