Manager, Logistics (Parcel Operations)

Role overview

The Parcel Operations Manager will report to the Director of Logistics and own the strategy and day-to-day execution of the company’s worldwide parcel transportation network as well as freight payment processing. This position functions as a key operational, financial, and analytical partner, working across teams to support the on-time, economical, and policy-compliant movement of shipments across countries, factories, distribution centers, and direct-to-consumer channels.

The role also includes leadership of global parcel carrier and account administration, oversight of the complete freight audit and payment cycle, and ownership of sourcing activities and contract discussions. A major part of the job is turning detailed shipment, mode, and accessorial data into actionable insights that improve cost, service, and visibility across parcel operations.

Contracting, sourcing, and negotiation

You will analyze and negotiate parcel agreements, keeping close track of base pricing, surcharges, and service-level commitments. The role requires coordinating sourcing events for parcel carriers when volume patterns or market comparisons suggest an opportunity for an RFP or RFQ. You will also build cost-impact scenarios for negotiations, including the effect of dimensional weight changes, fuel surcharges, and residential delivery fees on overall spend. Regular carrier business reviews will be part of ensuring adherence to agreed terms and continuous improvement.

Analytics and performance improvement

This position calls for detailed cost analysis across major drivers such as weight breaks, zone mix, and accessorial fees to uncover leakage and savings opportunities. You will create and review a weekly KPI dashboard covering metrics such as cost per package, transit time versus commitment, and on-time delivery performance. Based on those results, you will recommend and implement corrective actions for carrier service issues or divisional shipping trends. The role also involves managing the centralized parcel data warehouse and combining data from SAP, carrier portals, and freight audit records into Power BI for leadership visibility. In addition, you will monitor shipment tracking data to improve end-to-end visibility and identify missing or inaccurate information.

Freight payment and financial control

You will oversee the full freight payment process, with a focus on accurate carrier invoice handling in partnership with Finance and third-party audit teams. Responsibilities include validating invoice charges against negotiated contracts and pursuing recovery for incorrect billing or shipments that fall outside Centric. The role also requires managing GL coding across parcel accounts, maintaining weekly and monthly accruals, and providing reporting that clearly shows shipment progression from quote and booking through delivery and payment.

Global parcel operations management

The position covers global parcel shipping operations end to end, including carrier performance management, daily execution, and ongoing process improvement. You will administer parcel account structure across divisions and distribution centers, including setup, maintenance, and cleanup to ensure only authorized accounts remain active. Compliance with global SOPs and international parcel usage rules is essential, along with close communication with internal teams such as Production, Compliance, and Finance, as well as outside partners including carriers, brokers, and suppliers.

You will also use your understanding of parcel lanes and hub networks to improve routing, reduce cost, and protect service levels while limiting the risk of damage or delay. Additional duties include resolving shipment exceptions before they affect customers, managing lost or damaged freight claims from start to finish, and organizing daily priorities in line with business needs. The role further requires support for weekly, monthly, and quarterly parcel freight accruals to maintain financial transparency.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, or a similar discipline. A minimum of 5 years of experience in parcel operations, freight payment management, and contract negotiation is required. Strong knowledge of parcel pricing structures, contract language, and international transportation compliance is essential, along with hands-on experience in domestic and international parcel shipping, import compliance procedures, and SAP.

Advanced Excel capability and strong experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Power BI are also needed. The role may require extended working hours or weekend availability depending on business demand.
