Manager (Community Engagement)

About the role

This position focuses on building and executing engagement efforts tied to Total Defence, National Education, and support for defence. The aim is to strengthen Singaporeans’ sense of commitment to the country and its defence priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Shape engagement strategies and develop fresh, engaging concepts for outreach.
• Create and carry out community engagement plans that are practical and effective.
• Track programme progress, including related publicity and communication efforts.
• Work closely with different stakeholders, public agencies, and community partners.
• Oversee and assess engagement initiatives for external groups such as pre-enlistees, National Cadet Corps and other uniformed groups, educators, civil servants, and grassroots leaders.

Challenge of the role

The role requires the ability to design well-informed outreach methods for audiences whose expectations and social context are constantly changing, so they remain strong supporters of Singapore’s safety and long-term success.

Requirements

• A background in Mass Communication, Arts, or Social Sciences is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in public relations, marketing, or event management is preferred.
• Applicants without prior experience may also be considered.
• Strong spoken and written English is necessary.
• Excellent people skills and the ability to work well with others are important.
• Good planning and organisation skills are needed.
• Careful attention to detail is expected.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time is required.
• A creative approach to problem-solving and idea generation is desirable.
