Logging Geologist - Surface Data Logging

Overview

This role is suited for someone who wants to build a career in a major global energy services environment. The position focuses on learning surface data logging work while supporting geological and drilling data capture at the rig site. It is an entry-level, field-based opportunity for candidates with limited or no prior background in the petroleum or related sectors.

Job Duties

• Train in the Surface Data Logging service line to support on-site geological and drilling data collection and customer reporting.
• Build a working understanding of drilling basics, mud logging methods, and day-to-day field responsibilities.
• Collect drilled cuttings by depth interval.
• Handle the movement and transport of cuttings as required.
• Maintain accurate logs showing transported intervals.
• Keep the work area orderly and clean.
• Participate in training and on-the-job development focused on mud logging fundamentals, data capture, reporting, and gas system operations.
• Attend required induction programs.
• Complete any training needed to secure safety, offshore, operational, or customer-specific certifications so rig-site access can be obtained.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge gained through an undergraduate degree in Geology or a STEM discipline. Strong technical ability is important, along with solid communication, arithmetic, data entry, and record-keeping skills. Candidates must also have passed company assessments or met the required task guidelines. This role is intended for people with very little or no experience in the petroleum industry or a closely related field.
