Role overview

This is a full-time, permanent position based in a busy Christchurch food and water testing laboratory. The work pattern is Tuesday to Saturday. The role is practical and team-oriented, with reporting to the Section Team Leader and some responsibility for guiding and supporting other Laboratory Technicians.

The main purpose of the position is to perform microbiological testing on a range of food and water samples.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological analysis on food and water samples.
• Work closely with the team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Provide limited supervisory support and mentoring to other laboratory technicians.
• Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and efficient turnaround times.

Requirements

• A tertiary qualification in microbiology or biology.
• At least 1 year of experience in a commercial food or water testing laboratory.
• Solid technical capability and strong time-management skills.
• A firm commitment to quality standards.
• A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to contribute as a team player.
• Careful attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Additional information

The position requires someone who is hard-working, enthusiastic, and comfortable contributing in a close-knit team. The role is based onsite in Rolleston, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Working pattern

The role follows a Tuesday to Saturday schedule.
