Junior Data Engineer

About the role

Helic & Co is seeking an early-career Data Engineer to support a growing data function. The position is focused on helping design, run, and improve data pipelines and the underlying data architecture. It is suited to someone who wants practical exposure to current data technologies, guidance from experienced team members, and the chance to convert raw information into useful business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Support the creation and upkeep of ETL/ELT pipelines that transport and transform data reliably.
• Track pipeline performance, spot irregularities, and develop validation checks to keep data accurate.
• Help maintain data warehouses and data lakes used by analytics teams.
• Work closely with analysts and data scientists to understand their needs and provide well-structured datasets.
• Prepare and refresh documentation covering data schemas, pipeline steps, and system design.

Required skills and background

• Good foundational knowledge of SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or Scala.
• Basic familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL, along with core data warehousing ideas.
• Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or tools such as dbt, Airflow, and Spark, will be an advantage.
• A willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
