Head of Engineering

Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering for Open Banking at MIS Connect, you will shape and drive the company’s engineering direction, technical roadmap, and system architecture. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, steward the platform design, and make sure the KSA Open Banking environment for AIS/PIS is built to be scalable, secure, and dependable.

This position calls for a seasoned leader with a strong track record in Open Banking, banking APIs, fintech platforms, and large-scale distributed systems. You will partner with Product, senior leadership, Compliance, Security, and banking partners to influence the evolution of digital financial services in Saudi Arabia.

Engineering Leadership

• Build, guide, and grow strong engineering teams working across several products and services.
• Create engineering standards, governance models, and proven operating practices.
• Strengthen engineering capability through coaching, mentoring, and future-leader planning.
• Oversee engineering headcount, budget planning, capacity allocation, and hiring.

Architecture and Technology Direction

• Take ownership of the architecture for MIS Connect’s Open Banking platform.
• Set and maintain technology standards, architectural principles, and the direction of platform growth.
• Lead technical reviews and key design decisions.
• Ensure the solutions remain scalable, secure, easy to maintain, and aligned with business goals.

Delivery and Execution

• Work hand in hand with Product Management to ensure technical work supports strategic priorities.
• Drive consistent, reliable, and high-quality software delivery.

Security, Compliance, and Reliability

• Make sure the platform meets Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) Open Banking obligations and relevant industry requirements.
• Promote secure development practices across the software lifecycle.
• Manage platform reliability, uptime, monitoring, visibility, and incident response.
• Coordinate with security and compliance teams to stay audit-ready and regulator-ready.

Technical Environment

The platform is built on a modern microservices stack using Go, Python, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript/JSX, RESTful APIs, Open Banking APIs, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, event-driven patterns, identity and credential management, tokenization and authorization services, banking connectors, API gateways, and cloud-native distributed systems.

Core platform building blocks include Customer Credential Store, Token Authority, Bank Catalog and Discovery Services, Connector Gateway, API Credential Services, Partner Authority Services, eIDAS Services, and Event Processing Systems.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years in senior engineering leadership positions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead both Engineering and Architecture teams or functions.
• Strong hands-on understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and API platforms.
• Background in delivering critical platforms in banking, payments, fintech, or Open Banking settings.
• Deep knowledge of software architecture, scalability, security, and reliability engineering.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct exposure to Open Banking ecosystems and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience working with banks, financial institutions, or fintech companies.
• Familiarity with SAMA Open Banking Framework requirements.
• Knowledge of API security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and identity management.
• Experience growing engineering organizations in fast-moving technology environments.
