Role overview
This position leads the data function across data science, business intelligence, and data engineering. The role is focused on shaping a strong data strategy, building reliable analytics foundations, and turning data into decisions that support business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Guide and support the teams working in data science, BI, and data engineering.
- Create and roll out a data roadmap that supports wider business objectives.
- Own the architecture, buildout, and upkeep of data platforms, including OLAP environments and column-oriented systems such as Redshift.
- Maintain high standards for data quality, consistency, and protection across systems.
- Define and track performance metrics for marketing operations and billing workflows.
- Apply statistical techniques and machine learning approaches to surface insights and improve marketing results.
- Work closely with teams across the business to understand data needs and deliver useful insights.
- Promote ongoing learning, capability building, and process improvement inside the data organization.
- Recruit and develop talent while assembling a team focused on impact and delivery.
- Keep pace with new tools, methods, and trends in data science, BI, and engineering.
Candidate profile
- Background in a leadership position within data science, business intelligence, or data engineering.
- Hands-on knowledge of internet and performance marketing.
- Strong understanding of OLAP, statistics, and machine learning.
- Comfortable working with SQL and columnar data stores such as Redshift.
- Experience using Python for analysis, machine learning, and data engineering, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
- Exposure to JavaScript and HTML-based data visualization tools, including D3.js and Plotly.js.
- Ability to build interactive dashboards and visual outputs with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks.
- People leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and manage a varied team.
- Clear communicator with strong collaboration skills.
- Strategic, outcome-driven, and focused on results.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related area such as Data Science, Computer Science, or Statistics.
