Role overview
This role is centered on delivering clinical care to patients during air ambulance missions on both helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. In addition to hands-on transport medicine, the position supports leadership in quality improvement, team development, policy work, outreach, and day-to-day operational coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Provide assessment, treatment, and ongoing patient care during air medical transports.
- Work closely with the Program Director on quality improvement initiatives and staff training efforts.
- Contribute to the development and update of policies and procedures.
- Participate in community outreach and program-support activities.
- Coordinate with hospitals, emergency services, and other healthcare partners.
- Help oversee daily workflow while maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Take on administrative and program-related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a high school diploma or GED and have completed an approved EMT-P/Paramedic program. A minimum of three years of experience in advanced life support or critical care is required. Prior exposure to flight medicine or air medical transport is preferred.
Licenses and certifications
A valid EMT-P license is required, along with current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and designated trauma and pediatric certifications earned within the required time limits. FP-C or CCP-C certification is also expected, with ongoing renewal and maintenance. Depending on the services covered, additional state licenses or certifications may be necessary.
