Exclusion Technician

The Exclusion Technician role is a hands-on structural protection position focused on building and repairing physical barriers for homes and commercial properties. Rather than applying pest treatments, you will use construction and repair skills to close off access points, install exclusion systems, and help prevent rodents and wildlife from entering client properties.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and seal openings, cracks, and other vulnerable areas in foundations, rooflines, soffits, and similar building structures using rodent-resistant materials.
• Take measurements, cut materials, and fit specialty items such as door sweeps, exclusion screens, and related hardware.
• Install bird deterrent systems, including netting, spikes, and tension wire setups, on different types of structures.
• Work safely at heights using ladders and aerial work platforms such as scissor lifts or boom lifts to reach roofs and elevated commercial areas.
• Use hand tools and power tools including drills, saws, and caulking guns to complete durable structural repairs.
• Inspect sites for structural weak points that may allow pest entry and share findings with the service team.

Requirements

• Practical experience with tools and general maintenance or construction work is important; carpentry, roofing, or siding experience is especially valuable.
• You must be comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and in changing weather conditions.
• Ability to operate aerial lifts is preferred, or you should be willing to complete training for this equipment.
• You should be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing often, and working in tight areas such as attics and crawlspaces when needed.
• A valid G driver’s license, or the equivalent license in your province, is required along with a clean driving record.
• No pest control licence is needed for this role because it is focused on structural exclusion work.
