About the Opportunity
Yara is inviting expressions of interest for future E&I Technician openings at its Yara Pilbara site in Karratha, Western Australia. This is not a live vacancy; it is a talent pool for upcoming opportunities. Suitable applicants may be contacted later if a role becomes available that matches their background.
Yara Pilbara operates one of the world’s largest ammonia production facilities, along with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant in partnership with Orica. In collaboration with ENGIE, the business also plans to develop a renewable hydrogen facility to support renewable ammonia production.
The company is looking for curious, driven professionals who want to contribute in a regional coastal community with a relaxed lifestyle. All Karratha-based positions are offered on a residential basis.
Role Overview
The anticipated E&I Technician positions follow a Monday to Friday work pattern and will support operations across the ammonia and TAN plants. Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee an interview, contact, or employment.
Key Duties
- Carry out planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and instrumentation assets.
- Identify faults and troubleshoot complex equipment and systems, working alongside reliability engineers when needed.
- Record maintenance activities accurately in SAP, including time entries, technical notes, and job status updates.
- Follow all safety rules and environmental requirements at all times.
- Help strengthen team capability by guiding apprentices and working collaboratively with other departments.
Candidate Profile
Yara is typically looking for applicants with electrical trade certification recognised in Western Australia, along with a Certificate IV in Instrumentation or an equivalent trade background. Experience in petrochemical, gas, or oil refining environments is highly relevant, as is a strong grasp of industry standards and safe, environmentally responsible work practices. Good written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office is preferred. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or hold permanent residency.
Additional Information
Yara promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across its operations and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds, genders, orientations, experiences, and cultures. The company’s recruitment process may include reference and background checks where allowed by local law and when appropriate for the role. Candidates will be advised by HR before any such checks begin.
